About this deal

Whether you are a ghost fanatic or simply piqued by curiosity, you’ll get a robust deep dive into the experiences of paranormal occurrences, alternative explanations for these occurrences, and our culture’s fascination with them. The illustrations are cute and I really enjoyed the book - my one criticism would be that it was a whistlestop tour and of the paranormal, so wouldn’t be suitable for anyone wanting in-depth information!

Prepare to embark on a strange journey that allows skeptical inquiry, or perhaps the possibility of believing in the afterlife! Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Like Adam Allsuch Boardman’s earlier work with Nobrow Press, An Illustrated History of UFOs, An Illustrated History of Ghosts is a stylishly produced, colorful piece of graphic art that provides a basic but thorough introduction to ghostly myths and legends throughout the world. The book begins with providing definitions for the terminology that is used in the book such as what a ghost is, the meanings of myths and legends. As someone with an interest in this subject, I could follow it fine but I don't know how a new to subject reader would fare. Instead, Ghosts feels much more targeted towards much younger readers and offers a very high-level overview of a broad variety of things pertinent to ghosts, but never really leverages the spooky subject matter or the unique advantages of illustration to offer something more tangible.

It would have been even better if this could have been utilised for some stories to be more of a comic/graphic novel format. Through the decades, investigators and mediums have dedicated themselves to the task of reaching through the veil and contacting the other side. An Illustrated History of Ghosts is a cute little book which was a surface and light read about the history of ghosts. An Illustrated History of Ghosts is a non-fiction read that is packed full of much information that is presented in bite sized chunks. Whether you are a ghost fanatic or simply piqued by curiosity, you’ll get a robust deep dive into the experiences of paranormal occurrences, alternative explanations for these occurrences, and our culture’s fascination with them.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book, especially for anyone who wants to learn a bit more about the history behind ghosts, especially from different backgrounds and cultures. The author, Adam Allsuch Boardman is an illustrator and fan of trivia who has previously written “An Illustrated History of UFO’s”, and “An Illustrated History of Filmmaking”, both of which I’d be interested in having a look at.

There is also a unique guide on the different types of ghost and yes there is more than one type of ghost which was news to me.
