About this deal

ULTRA-LIGHTWEIGHT - For the thru-hiker or wild camper the Berghaus Peak Self-Inflating Mat is a lightweight, compact and easy to use mat which uses a diamond cut foam to assure a good nights rest no matter the terrain or the temperature. It also had an outing near the Wyre Forest (Bewdley) in early March, where it was a slightly warmer 3 degrees overnight. Inflation and deflation is nicely handled by the patented ‘Cyclone valve’ which sounds a bit gimmicky but works very well. There is no escaping the fact that the OR Skyfall is a bit of a beast – with measurements of 201 x 132 x 15cm fully inflated then the folded size is always going to be bulky.

Reviews are the reason you are here, and they’re unquestionably the most important factor we can use to help us choose a product when you’re not able to test the product for yourself. The mat is quite narrow and looking at other brands they all seem the same width, not sure how a larger person would manage on these mats as one turn and your off onto the cold ground. The other interesting point to note is that the Thermarest MondoKing has vertical edges when inflated which means you can butt two of them up together to make a quasi-King Size double.Whether it is setting up the perfect tent or exploring new trails on my bike, I'm here to help you make the most of your outdoor camping adventures. Kampa have made it exceptionally easy to inflate and deflate the Kip Highrise, and this is one of its major strengths.

When inflated, there is a slight thickness increase in the head and neck region – this acts like a pillow – a nice touch. That said the materials feel a lot flimsier and you lose a good 20mm in thickness which is going to impact how soft you can leave this mat and therefore just how comfy! You simply half-flip the inner part of the valve until the mattress is inflated and then flip it back and lock the cap – simples! There’s no denying that the SIM was comfortable for my wife though who is a much more svelte 11 stone. Inflation and deflation are very straightforward, and the small packed size very useful if equipment space is at a premium in your set-up.I'm new to ultralight gear and I'm not 100% certain these count but they're certainly a lot lighter than other options. The Berghaus Peak XL Self-Inflating Mat is constructed with a diamond cell foam pattern, built to reduce weight but add maximum comfort. most manufacturers suggest a few puffs of air to firm-up the mattress but remember that the moisture in your breath will condensate when the air temperature drops, and then you'll end-up with water inside your mat which can cause the fabric to rot - so, avoid the temptation if you can, and use a small airbed pump (or bicycle pump with adaptor) instead and prolong the life of your mat, whilst remembering that keeping it rolled-up in the bottom of your camping bag will damage the foam, so leave it unfurled below your bed (or in the loft/garage/understair cupboard) if you can, with the valve in the open position. We've previously taken air beds that you have to pump up, but they don't provide very even support; these somehow do. We found that it gave excellent isolation in our tent in February when we used a decent down sleeping bag on top.

The Comfort 10 really lives up to its name, providing ample cushioning for even the weightiest of folk. Here we have the Berghaus Pro Peak insulated sleeping mat, said to be very lightweight, small and filled with Primaloft insulation said to mimic the properties of natural down.As someone who has managed to burst a very expensive sleeping mat with a hammer (yes true), having some glue and a repair patch close to hand is very useful. The Decathlon Quechua Luxury SIM is an 8cm thick self inflating mattress which has an excellent R-rating of 8. Well actually we didn’t really miss those extra 2cm, and the great insulation really made a difference on a cold autumn night. EASY TO INFLATE - Take the stress out of sleeping, use the quick release push valve to easy inflate your mat, so you'll be in bed in no time. The great thing about having so much cushioning is that you can lie on it, let a little bit of air out and then seal up the valves.

If one of you wants to go camping on your own or with the kids then you don’t need to try and wrestle with the larger SIM.They don’t make much noise, as those absurd Thermarest neo types do ( who thought crossing a crisp packet with a helium balloon was a good idea? This product is compact light and very comfortable which is favourable knowing how inexpensive the product is. Thankfully I bought it as extra cushioning to go on top of a single air bed for which it does add comfort for a side sleeper but I wouldn't have bought it for wild camping as an only protection from sleeping on the ground. What is great about the armrests is that they stop you rolling off the mattress in the night very effectively.
