Operating this unit is easy – you can set your own humidity levels in five per cent increments, from 35 to 85 per cent, and the digital display will show the current humidity of the room, so you have a good idea of how humid it is when setting it. The base comes with casters in case you want to wheel them around a hard floor; may make it easy to wheel one over to a step-in shower for emptying if you don't want to lug 40 pounds of water by the handle. The mobile app is easy to use and lets you control the dehumidifier with your phone from anywhere, though an in-app water gauge and energy usage reporting would be welcome additions.

I’ve been working with computers for ages, starting with a multi-year stint in purchasing for a major IBM reseller in New York City before eventually landing at PCMag (back when it was still in print as PC Magazine). I hope none of you reading this has to deal with a flooded basement or the prospect of thousands of dollars of property damage. It’s also very heavy, weighing 15kg, so if you’re planning on moving it up and down stairs in your home, you may want to reconsider. Plus, now that the colder months are here, and everyone having their eye on energy bills, dehumidifiers can be an essential appliance when it comes to helping you dry your laundry, as you can pull the plug on your expensive tumble drier and dry your clothes indoors, knowing you won’t be causing any damp issues.Plus, it’s very economical, as it has a hydrophilic coating that can collect up to 40 per cent more water without using any extra power. The HEPA filter makes it a great choice for anyone with allergies too, as it will rid the air of dust, pollen and any other pollutants that may cause irritation. Dehumidifiers work by drawing excess moisture from the air, before collecting it in a drip tray and pushing warm, dry air back into the room. It is heavy but not unmanageable, as it weighs around 13kg, and can remove up to 18l of water per day. The dehumidifier appears in its own panel on the home screen, which shows the current device status (on/off) and the current humidity level target.

It works by encouraging air to circulate and flow through a tablet similar in design to a dishwasher tablet. They aren't quiet, even the low setting is a little loud for my taste when standing next to the unit. Please ensure you have a proper vehicle to load all your items prior to come to collect your purchase. The Midea helps solve a problem common to many dehumidifiers: Just how the heck do you get rid of all the water it collects? It hard to believe just how much water this takes out of my house, I had it on the first night and it ran for around 8 hours and in the morning their was around 1 to 2 litres of water in the bucket. This Dehumidifier uses the reciprocating compressor with less vibration, which can effectively reduce noise.

For most, the 20-pint model, which is designed to cover a 2,000-square-foot house, should be more than enough. After selecting the dehumidifier to suit your room size, you can place the model where it is needed.Fortunately the console and the phone app both allow you to configure it to do a high water shut off far earlier than the physical bucket becoming full, if you want to stop it at 25%, 50%, 75% for weight reasons. The moisture pulled from the air gets collected into a drip tray, and dry air is pushed back into the room. While the Midea dehumidifier — or any dehumidifier — shouldn’t be the only recourse in the event of a flood, it performed well when helping out my friend, and for more typical scenarios, should work just fine.
